Chicago's Sanford Parker is a music producer, engineer and musician, known as an expert in the production of Doom and Extreme Metal bands. If it was heavy and recorded in Chicago, Sanford was probably at the mixing desk. He was a member of Minsk, Nachtmystium and Twilight, and his active projects include Buried at Sea, Corrections House and Mirrors For Psychic Warfare. He has produced Wovenhand, Eyehategod and many more. But on Lash Back he turns to electronica - and it's a dark, gothic vision . Parker says "There are songs that I want to hear while I am driving. I write most of my songs for different environments - the city, the desert, the forest. So I imagine how I travel through these scenes as I write them. " But the crystalline soundscapes have little room for a naturalistic peace. The desert in his musical language is the desert after Armageddon. The forest is a hostile, hopeless place. This dystopian music builds on the loops, sequencer programming and Industrial sounds, but linear song structures are abandoned in favor of instrumental storytelling.
